In 1981, the workers and the believers of Ambattur Church went to the village of Tirunilai to preach the gospel. They were preaching from house-to-house. While preaching, they met a man by the name of Devasigamani who was at the bus stop. During conversation, he commented that many Christians had come here to preach the word of God. These Christians they come and they go and as such this method is not good. It is good if the church could construct a chapel here. With the chapel, more could come to listen to the preaching on the One True God and more souls could be saved from destruction. At that time the workers could not make any decision but put this matter to heart and said that let Gods will be done and let us pray over this matter.
One month later the workers continued to preach there to Devasigamani, Amirthalingam and Arumugam. They have also decided that if the people there could provide them a land, then a chapel could be constructed. After three to four continuous visit, as the church sees the prospect of evangelical work in Tirunilai, the church in Ambattur constructed a small thatched hut in an unoccupied Government land.
In 1982, 18 members from Devasigamanis, Amirthalingams and Arumugams families were baptized into the Lord. With frequent visits to Tirunilai and through prayers, many sick people were cured and they came forward to be baptized in True Jesus Church and due to this increasing membership, there was insufficient place to sit. At this time, by Gods grace Bro. Amirthalingam offered up his land for the construction of a bigger chapel. Ambattur Church took up the responsibility for the construction. Since it was constructed with clay and due to rain and other reasons it had to be renovated again and again. As such, the church later decided to construct the chapel with bricks and cement, but when it started the work Bro. Amirthalingams brother gave objection to the construction. He told us that this piece of land belongs to him and accused his brother of cheating him. That same night he put up a fence to fence up the area and this was a big shock for the church. For more than 2 years the church conducted service s under the shadow of trees. It was truly a time of trials. During this period, many of the believers were fed up and they left the church and moved to other denomina
tions.
In 1995, again by Gods grace and with the help of Ambattur Church and also with the help of individual members, the present church land was bought and the church started to construct the church building. In 1997 through prayer and grace of God the building was completed. After long interruptions Tirunilai church was dedicated to the Lord that year. Many people started to come. They received the blessings of the Lord
.At present the church has grown to maturity and it has his own committee and is under the care of Zone - I. Presently, the church is preaching in nearby places, especially Ariyalur.
